Climate Resilience & Precision Farming

Problem Statement

Farmers are suffering from unpredictable financial losses due to rapid climate variability, such as sudden excessive rainfall or irregular dry spells. Current reliance on general weather forecasts is insufficient, as they lack localized accuracy, leading to poor planning for sowing, harvesting, and crop selection.

Innovation Opportunities

  • Develop hyper-localized, data-driven climate intelligence systems. There is a need for tools that provide micro-weather predictions and early warnings specifically tailored for village or panchayat levels, enabling proactive rather than reactive decision-making.

Use Case Example

Concept: A "Micro-Climate Advisory App."
Scenario: A farmer receives a notification 48 hours before an unseasonal storm, specifically predicted for their GPS location. The app suggests delaying the application of fertilizer to prevent washout and recommends a drainage protocol for the specific crop variety they are growing.
