Absence of Common Collection & Processing Facilities (Aggregation)

Problem Statement

The lack of centralised, high-throughput common facilities for collection, cleaning, standardised processing (e.g., milling, drying, oil extraction), and value addition forces farmers to rely on informal, often inefficient, and expensive local processors.

Innovation Opportunities

  • Aggregation and Processing Centre Management Software: ERP or cloud-based systems for FPOs/private operators to efficiently manage operations within common processing centres (scheduling, inventory, resource allocation).
  • Small-Scale, Modular Value Addition Units: Design and deployment of compact, energy-efficient units for primary processing like spice grinding, oil extraction, or simple fruit pulping suitable for community ownership.

Use Case Example

An FPO manages its Turmeric Processing Centre using a digital platform. Farmers book drying and grinding slots, track the processing status, and the platform calculates the yield and payment automatically.
